Says things she shouldn’t

Katie is curious and passionate about design, as one might expect, but believes her enthusiasm for other things, such as music, writing, working hard and laughing loud feeds the energy it takes to lead a creative team and to run a business.

Her personality is often affected by a mental battle being waged between two graphic designers. One a slave to rationality and the demands of logic and organization; the second is a wild-eyed right-side-of-the-brain type. Katie was dangerously close to becoming a business major, but luckily for us, came to her senses and majored in art.

Katie has been involved in the culture and workings of both large and small agencies. Her 9 years of experience in brand identity, packaging, and interactive design has lead to successful work in various industries from hotel and restaurant to entertainment and music promotions with a mix of local and national brands. As lead designer and co-founder of Departika, she collaborates with a small team of creatives and design-savvy developers who craft digital programs and beautiful websites.

Katie is inspired by other creative people, smart people, stupid people, friends and family.
