This is her personal portfolio, which could stand to be updated sometime this decade.
Some call her desk messy—she calls it interesting.
Katie is one of the lead designers and one half of the total number of girls at departika. She is curious and passionate about design, as one might expect, but also other things, such as politics, music, working hard, laughing loud, and making unnecessary noises when she yawns. Some might say her desk is messy, but she claims that it's just a manifestation of all the ideas roaming around in her head.
Her personality is often affected by a mental battle being waged between two graphic designers, one a slave to rationality and the demands of logic and organization. The second, a wild-eyed right-side-of-the-brain type. Katie was dangerously close to becoming a business major, but luckily for us, came to her senses and majored in art. She had the opportunity to be a student of some inspiring and diverse instructors at Missouri State University (called SMSU back in the day), where she graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Art, emphasis in graphic design. Professionally, she's been exposed to the culture and workings of both large and small marketing and advertising agencies. After a taste of the agency world, Katie moved into freelancing for the following four years. In that time she's had the chance to work with a mix of local clients, national brands, and even start a short-lived independent record label called Records of Mass Destruction.
Katie is inspired by other creative people, smart people, stupid people, friends, and family. She believes that being a waitress can prepare you for most situations in life.
